There’s something incredibly peaceful about the Rhode Island coastline in December—quiet beaches, soft winter light, and a sense of calm that feels worlds away from the busy summer season. This mid-December engagement session in Narragansett was all of that, with one unexpected gift… unusually warm weather just days before Christmas. We truly lucked out.

Instead of bundling up against the cold, we were able to slow down and enjoy the moment. The ocean was calm, the light was soft and golden, and the entire shoreline felt like it belonged just to them. Without the usual chill in the air, everything felt more relaxed—more natural—and that always translates beautifully in photos.

Narragansett is one of my favorite locations for engagement sessions, especially in the off-season. The rocky coastline, open views of the Atlantic, and muted winter tones create such a timeless, cinematic backdrop. In December, it becomes even more special—quiet, intimate, and deeply romantic.

Dan and Mollie were completely wrapped up in each other, which made my job easy. We focused on connection over posing, letting the landscape and light do what they do best. The result is a gallery that feels effortless, emotional, and true to them.

Winter engagement sessions in Rhode Island are often overlooked, but they offer so much beauty—soft light all day long, fewer crowds, and a slower, more intentional pace. And every once in a while, you get a warm December day that feels like magic.
