Every couple hopes for sunshine on their wedding day, but honestly? Rain has a way of slowing everything down in the best possible way. This sweet May wedding at Camp Hoffman in South Kingstown was proof that a little rain doesn't take away from the celebration—it simply changes the story.

The afternoon started inside the camp cabins with everyone getting ready, laughing, helping each other, and soaking in those last quiet moments before the day officially began. Mollie's dress hung in the window while friends and family moved around the room, and across camp Dan was getting ready with his guys.

Once the rain settled in, there wasn't much anyone could do except embrace it—and that's exactly what they did. Out came the clear umbrellas, everyone smiled anyway, and we headed into the pine trees. Some of my favorite images from the entire wedding happened in those moments.

The soft light, the fresh greens after the rain, and the way these two looked at each other made it all feel incredibly peaceful. It was one of those reminders that your wedding day doesn't have to be "perfect" to be beautiful. One of the things I love most about photographing weddings is that no two days are ever the same. Sometimes it's bright sunshine, sometimes it's pouring rain, and sometimes the unexpected becomes the part you'll remember most years later.
